Panasonic HC-X900M Iris Control

Hi - Not sure if this forum is too active, but I thought I would try my question here. I just got a Panasonic HC-X900M camera and I will be using it to shoot live video. Sometimes the shows will be very dark, sometime very bright. I will need to control the iris. With all the other cameras I've owne...

HVR-MRC1 Recording During Tape Change

Just a question on recording to the memory unit as I change tapes... I have an HVR-Z5U and a HVR-MRC1. I'd like to record simulataneously to tape and to memory. Is there a setting that will continue recording to memory as I change the tape? I think I've read about settings that kick in once the tape...

Re: Dropouts on Sony HVR-Z5U tape

Adam - I finally got the Sandisk card and I'm up and running with the HVR-MRC1. I'm reading the manual and I'm a little confused. Your post on how to record with only the memory is good, that was one question that the manual wasn't clear on. 2nd question, how do I get this to record HDV, m2t files? ...

Re: Dropouts on Sony HVR-Z5U tape

Adam -

Thanks for this post. It certainly makes me feel better. I'll switch tapes, and get my memory recording unit running.

Looking forward to using the camera some more in 2012.

Dropouts on Sony HVR-Z5U tape

i just purchased a Sony HVR-Z5U back in November and I love the picture quality. I'm just concerned about some of the dropouts I've seen, just during the first 2 shoots I've done with the camera. This is a brand new machine, on its 3rd hour of recording, using Panasonic AY-DVM60ES new tape. I was sh...

Re: Sony HVR-Z5U Recommended Tape?

Adam, Thanks for your response. Indeed, I've spent extra money on the HDV tape thinking I'm saving myself from dropouts. Then I record a few shows to find the 1st 20 minutes of some of the tapes completely blank. Later I learn about the recall, on a $15 tape!! Aaarggh!! I'll stick to the cheaper tap...

Sony HVR-Z5U Recommended Tape?

A second post here about the HXR-Z5U. I was hoping a few people could comment on the brands of tape that they have had good success with in the Z5U. I own a HC1 and it seems that that camera prefers Sony HDV tape. Though I've had some failures with that brand. Can you get away with Panasonic AY-DVM6...

Understanding Exposure/Iris on HVR-Z5U

With good recommendations from this forum, I purchased a Sony HVR-Z5U camera as VX-2000 replacement. I'm learning how to use it, but am a little confused with the IRIS/EXPOSURE settings and the GAIN L/M/H switches. It looks like I have several more controls than I had on the VX2000. I understand how...

Re: Sony HVR-Z5U upgrade from a VX2000?

Thanks for your comments. It looks like we have chosen a good camera! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a competing Canon camera that I should also consider. We will definitely buy through B&H, so I will read up on how to do that through this site. Thanks for letting me know about that. I ...

Sony HVR-Z5U upgrade from a VX2000?

Hi - I work with my local church as a videotaper. Each Sunday we record our service and send the tape to the cable company for broadcast. We have been using a Sony VX2000 for the past nine years, and we now have the opportunity to upgrade. I have funding to purchase a Sony HVR-Z5U with the HVR-MRC1 ...
