Re: Sony HXR-NX30U: buy now, or wait?

I use the Sony NX30 for quite some time and am excited about it, especially about its image stabilization technique. In addition I use the Sony NX5 whenever I need more camera control.

I do not know about a follow-up for the NX30. The Sony HRX-NX3 seems to be a NX5 follow-up.

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 low lux

As the frames are 25 a second, the image will still appear pretty smooth
What trick is applied in low lux mode that 1/25 still looks smooth, but the same shutter speed in normal (not low lux) mode is jerky?

Sony HXR-NX30 low lux

What is the shutter speed in low lux mode? The operating guide (p. 113) says 1/25. However, movement is very smooth, contrary to the jerky movement in regular (no low lux) shots with shutter speet 1/25.

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

There is a much bigger difference between the 'standard' mode and the new BalancaedSteadyShot To make it clear: In the NX30 the "standard" mode is the new "Balanced Optical SteadyShot" ("BOSS", as I call it). The NX30' "active" mode is a combination of "...

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

Yes, in "standard" stabilization mode, the entire optical block moves (as far as I can judge from the visible movement of the optical block). What "fixed shot" means is a mystery for me. The operating manual says it "further reduces camera-shake. When you attempt operations ...

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

In fully static shots (e.i. on a tripod) it is always recommended to use no stabilization at all.

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

The Balanced Optical SteadyShot (I call it "BOSS") feature of the NX30 (which can be combined with the digital steadyshot) is far better than the already good stabilization of other Sony cameras (I have the XR550 and NX5), and -as Doughie says - is type of gyroscopic, or perhaps cardanian ...

Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

I have bought the NX30, a small, 1.1 kg camera, which I will use in circumstances where my Sony NX5 is too big and too heavy. My first impressions are: Positive: Revolutionary "Balanced Optical SteadyShot" works extremely well, far better than the usual "Optical Steady Shot" (one...

Re: "Glad You Are Back!!"

I desperately checked the site many times every month and actually didn't believe to find something on it any longer. But persistent as I use to be, I continued and finally found you again. I am very happy and thank you for your efforts.
