By the way, what is your budget for the cam? I have an XR520 and have been pretty happy with it. that's a 1/2.88in. sensor.

Re: Choosing between camcorders
In general, my advice would be to always go for a model with a larger sensor. Thats always a good thing. So out of those two models mentioned above, the CX130 would get my vote as it has a 1/4in sensor as opposed to the far smaller 1/6in sensor.

Re: Sony HDR-XR350V Data Error problem
Hmm. I have a XR520V which records to hard-drive. Never had that type of error (thankfully). I would imagine that it is a hard-drive related issue, but you've reformatted the hard-drive and no success. In my XR there is a 'recover database' function. Might be something similar to that in your cam, b...

Re: Bloom to head off on Kimberley tour (NW Australia)
Thanks Stephan! i was sure it was here somewhere.. yes he says it will be a bit of a story, interviews with the boat staff etc intercut with scenic images, so that should be good, and gets the human factor in there as well as epic shots etc. To be honest, Michel Fletcher did such a great job already...

Bloom to head off on Kimberley tour (NW Australia)
Just seen Mr Bloom is heading off on the famous 'True North' boat on a 1-week tour of the Kimberley region of North-Western Australia. I saw that video by Mike Fletcher about a year or two ago and i think i posted about it here (or it may have been SonyHDVinfo.com, not sure). Anyway, its spectacular...

Re: Panasonic GH2: Best Video DSLR For The Price?
Almost everything i have ever read about the GH2 is universally good. Its a very impressive machine and the autofocus on the lenses seems to work well. See here some really good skateboarding stuff, almost entirely filmed with GH2 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELDwedLW4gQ and BTS : http://www.you...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review
fair comment on the date thing, its just mildly bizarre to me that a date/time could be so easily manipulated. But yes, back to the requirement, i have seen this 'date/time stamp required' question appear quite regularly on various forums. XR520 as you said (i have one) just shows it on playback by ...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review
The problem as far as i can see it with all this 'its a legal thing, i need the time/date stamped on the video' is simply this : you can set the time&date to ANY value, its all down to the 'honesty' of the person setting the camera. I could set the time and date on my camcorder to June 28th 1998...
