Re: HXR MC2000 Gain issues
Hi, welcome! There a 4 parameters that let a camcorder adjust to changing light conditions: - Shutter speed, - Iris aperture, - Physical ND filters (neutral-density grey filters) that reduce incoming light, - Gain (dB) - which is a digital algorithm that functions like a light amplifier. Here's what...

Re: HDR-HC1E display problem
Sorry to hear that you're having problems! Frankly, this is an old camcorder now, they're not supposed to last so long... By the way, it's strange that these companies have found a way to engineer devices that wait until warranty is over before they fail. Smart, but frustrating. I've got quite a few...

Re: Any editor or plugin available to make a clip OUT OF FOC
There's also a Gaussian Blur effect in Final Cut Pro X.
Use keyframes to change effect parameters along your timeline - more or less blur (although I haven't had an opportunity to test that myself).

Re: CX360v vs SR11
Ordinarily larger sensor is better, but here... the SR1 is 3 years older, and things improve a lot in 3 years esp. with the latest generation sensors. I'd go with the latest 360V.

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?
Yes, that's what I believe it does - digital zoom-in. It does provide additional benefits: very solid stabilization overall, and also rotational stabilization - in standard mode if your cam is severely shaken (by wind gusts for example), although the image is stable horizontally and vertically, you ...

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?
Hi Rolando, nice to see you back! :-) I've bought the consumer sibling - in Europe it's called HDR-CX740VE (with 32GB memory) and in the US HDR-CX760V (with 96GB memory like the NX30). I haven't checked in detail, but I believe they're fairly identical except: - the audio section: external XLR adapt...

The MPEG2 files, that HDVSplit would capture, carry both video and audio. Not sure which Sony camcorder you're referring to, though.

Re: Sony HDR-CX360v / cannot connect to computer
Odd... "USB Connect" is fairly simple and fool-proof. You might try to reformat the memory and/or do a hard reset of the camcorder (press the reset button). It could be in a temporary error state that would be cleared this way. But if it worked before and now doesn't work on any computer, ...

Re: Sony HDR-CX250, is it a wretched camcorder or not?
What dB gain was that Stephan? 18dB? Or did you gain-limit it? & Shutter speed? That was 15dB, the limit that I had set in AGC Limit control in the menu. Everything automatic besides that - I didn't check shutter speed, but I believe it stayed at the default 1/50th for my 50i camcorder. The rea...
