Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

Strange, on my consumer HDR-CX740, I had the same audio noise problem and came to the exact opposite conclusion (Normal = auto, Low = fixed, and leave it to 'Low'...) - Looks like Sony changed their minds on how to name audio level? Interesting!

Re: What is the best handycam?

It depends on your eyes and expectations, I'd say. I do see a difference when the picture is static. As you want to keep the camera still ordinarily, in order to take advantage of Hi Def, the picture is so sharp that I do see a degradation with digital zoom - like the digital zoom that's involved wi...

Re: What is the best handycam?

Zoom H1 - thanks for the tip! Lightweight and inexpensive, I'll have to try that. => Do you have a windscreen for it? How effective is it? That's my main need for an external mic essentially (avoiding wind noise). I had the same camcorder choices, and went for the Sony because the sample footage I f...

Re: What is the best handycam?

Hi, I'm extremely satisfied with the video quality of my new HDR-CX740VE. It's really amazing, as good as I could hope for. Small consumer cams have made enormous progress. Sound is an issue, though. The external input jack is useless in my cam (somehow it causes internal reverberation / echo and am...

Re: Please help! Uploading movies from Sony CX100 to Mac

Final Cut Pro X will process your AVCHD files just fine (I use it myself). Otherwise, you can use ClipWrap to transcode the AVCHD files to QuickTime (you will need to choose an installed codec though, like Apple Intermediate or ProRes).

Re: Sony HDR-CX560V vs HDR-CX580V

Hi, HDR-CX560V: older one, larger sensor (1/3" - larger is better), 64GB memory HDR-CX580V: new generation, smaller sensor (1/4"), 32GB memory, loses the adjustment dial but gets a lens hood (sun shield). What's wrong in this picture? Newer generation has lower specs and is stripped of som...

Re: Sony HDR CX350V Camcorder Flash Mode

Have you attached a filter in front of the lens? Sometimes there can be a little switch that detects the filter, and turns off any front-facing light to avoid projecting the shadow of the filter's edge onto whoever/whatever you're shooting.

Re: Which wide angle lens for HDR CX110?

I tend to avoid add-on lenses (I once had one, that induced too much distorsion) and as the saying goes, "Buy Cheap Buy Twice" (*). But the discount is good ($30 from $110 regular price) so who knows, you might have a pleasant surprise... Let us know how it goes!

Re: New Stock Motion Graphics & Video Website - FREE HD CONT

Hi Tom! Ordinarily not so keen to allow linking on this site, but it's unusual to see some website endeavour from friendly UK! I wish you well. Do you come up with the video loops by yourself, or will you let people upload them, YouTube-like? It's so hard to be properly careful of digital rights own...

Re: SONY HXR MC2000 file transfer issue

Oh well, I have an iMac now and it does handle AVCHD remarkably well! hehe :-)

The key question here, like Adam said, is firstly: which editing software are you using? I use Final Cut Pro X, and the import process of AVCHD footage into FCP X Events works like a breeze for me.
