Re: CX360v vs SR11
I think I'd tend to agree. Even with the bigger sensor of the older cam, I'd think recent improvements in sensor tech would give the newer cam a better pic. And yet.... If you look at out HD1000 vs. MC2000 shoot-out, I think these are the exact same two chips we are talking abut. In that case, the o...

Re: Any editor or plugin available to make a clip OUT OF FOC
In Premiere, it's an effect called Gaussian Blur. I assume it's in other editors as well.

Re: HDR-CX700V Can't Delete Vids in Windows Explorer
No. You're not supposed to do it this way because there are invisible database files that wouldn't get deleted and they'd mess everything up. Do it the way they say to in the manual (page 38). I imagine you can also use PMB as well, which is what you should be using to do your importing. Do not trea...

Re: Sony HC1 and HDVSplit
It's possible HDVSplit just doesn't work with avi/SD files. When your program doesn't see the cam, the problem is usually one of the two things you have already guessed -- either your firewire port is blown at one end or the other, or you have a settings mismatch. The first problem you have already ...

Re: Sony HC1 and HDV Split
Your HD tapes from the HC1 are Mpeg-2 and are already highly compressed. Anything you could convert them to will not restore any lost data; that is gone forever. So it is best to keep them in their native format, which is Mpeg-2 transport stream, or m2t, when transferring to disc. You can never gain...

Re: Sony HDI and HDV Split
So just to clarify, you have an old 8mm movie shot on motion picture film which has been transferred to MiniDV tape, which you have verified plays back fine on your HC1? Not an old 8mm videotape or Hi8 or Digital8 tape? If the former, I assume HDVsplit should work just fine, but then so will Windows...

Re: Sony HDI and HDV Split
Firewire (Sony calls it i.Link) always sends both audio and video simultaneously, not separately, so any program using it will capture both together. But I too have never heard of an HD1 from Sony. Might wish to double-check your model number and maybe we can be more helpful. Edit: I stand corrected...

Re: HVR-MRC1 Recording During Tape Change
There are three ways to do this: 1. Let the tape run out, eject, replace, hit REC. 2. Hit CamLink on the MRC to disengage the REC signals from cam to MRC, hit stop, eject tape, replace tape, hit REC, turn on CAMLINK. 3. Turn off EXT REC CTRL completely and operate tape and MRC independently, using s...

No, I think maybe you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying we didn't want to talk about it; we are happy to talk about anything you want to, even a brownie box camera shooting black & white film. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting. The DVX was a fine cam in its day and that p...
