Doughie i think its the HC-1 not FX-7 you are refering to, the FX had better overall colours including greens, the current canon HV though although no sharper than the FX certainly takes better looking footage plus it has the 25P and cini mode options for various different picture looks.My filming e...

To transfer HDV lossless to pcs for editing firewire is the way, there are no artifacts this is a known fact,i have edited hundreds of hdv tapes this way.

To transfer lossless HD video to a pc for editing a firewire lead is needed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_1394_interface , for watching on hd tvs component should give the same quality as hdmi albeit not in such a convenient single lead way.

Hi its nice to join the forum i spent a lot of time on the pevious one, My videoing is being cut back a bit now and i still use HDV after a small period with avchd,i love my canon HV30 and find its PQ great.Good luck with the new forum.Chris
