New Canon HF G30, XA20 and XA25 camcorders

Strange timing... The 2 professional products come right on time for NAB in Las Vegas next week, but what... a new consumer cam 3 months after a boring CES? How sweet! Good news, Canon! Press releases (details are still scarce): - Consumer: The New Canon VIXIA HF G30 Camcorder Opens Up New Possibili...

Re: Pinnacle 14 & file management

Hi, Yes, probably some capture files (usually AVI for standard definition video), some project files, and render files. What these AUX files are... no idea, never used that software, so won't be able to help. Make sure you output your DVD as image files (.iso, .img) that you will preserve in multipl...

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 low lux

Playback with Data Code display will give you the answer!

I like Data Code display when I want to know the specific parameters that were used when shooting. WB settings, aperture, shutter speed, auto vs. manual...

Re: Z5U MRC1 Audio

I guess I am / was just fixed on finding a solution that would allow me to continue using FCP instead of having to switch over to another editing platform. Sean, In contrast with Adam, I must say I'm reasonably happy with FCP X considering the much lower price over here compared to Premiere (damn A...

Re: Getting buried!

Most of the current non-tape cams these days shoot to AVCHD, which may pose some problems with FCP and Macs; I don't know whether they have worked those out yet, so you should be aware of them. FCP X works very smoothly with AVCHD. Went all through the workflow on this video - Costa neoRomantica - ...

Re: Good headphones to monitor audio

Thanks a lot Steve and Adam for the tips :-) I've checked the 7506 and user reviews, they seem to appreciate it a lot too, as a studio monitoring headset that has a flat response and lets you pick out any flaws in the audio. This makes me think that I could also use them to check the audio after edi...

Good headphones to monitor audio

Hi, I'm splitting this question from that other topic: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review . Are there any headphones you would recommend to monitor audio on the spot, based on your experience? Requirements are: usual 3.5mm jack, lightweight and compact enough for travel transport. I might be using them...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

On my camera, 'Normal' is defined as, "Records surrounding sounds at fixed level". "Low" is defined as, "Records surrounding sounds at actual level." Does yours have the same definition? I checked on the menu, yes it's the same definition. But "Normal" applie...
