Re: New Canon HF G30, XA20 and XA25 camcorders

aha! yes about time Canon updated that form-factor. Looks like an interesting machine for sure. Tough competition in this sector of the market, with the Sony offerings.

Re: Z5U MRC1 Audio

Hi Sean welcome! i totally understand you want to get the most out of the new MRC1 module for your Z5. I think that Adam on this board has personal experience of that module, so he may be able to help with that. Are the problems you are having ALWAYS happening after 12minutes? Is it exactly 12minute...

Re: Hours on af101

in the old days the main point-of-failure with camcorders was the tape drive mechanism. That was really the only mechanical part of a camcorder (more or less). Cams like AF101 dont have tape-drive so dont worry too much about hours on the machine. General overall condition is probably the most impor...

Re: Getting buried!

Hi Roscoe OK with budget of around 1100 quid, I would suggest considering these 2 HiDefinition Sony camcorders (one of which, the VG20, a friend of mine has got and shoots with professionally all the time) : Sony HDR-CX730E http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-sony-hdrcx730e-black-high-definition-camc...

Seems like Sony discontinued the 7509 model, so yes i would say either the Sony 7506 or the Sennheiser HD280 Pro are the two best models at the US$100 price point.

Re: Good headphones to monitor audio

I also have the Sony 7506 headphones. Had them for around 7 years. They are now a little beaten up but stil work great. they are fairly industry-standard, certainly when i bought them in 2005 they were globally very widely used. very lightweight and comfortable. You will here all kinds of things ! i...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

but test with a good set of headphones based on ambient levels and go from there. that's the bottom line for me. Golden Rule of sound recording : Monitor your sound live during the event with headphones. It can help you avoid all sorts of problems and unexpected sound issues by alerting you to / hi...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

I agree that sometimes the appearance of uploaded video can differ a little from the native file. Exposure and contrast can appear a little different, so sometimes if the delivery-mechanism of your rendered video is primarily upload to a video-sharing site like Youtube, you can render the video file...

Re: What is the best handycam?

Doughie, do you mean Tascam DR-05? Tamrac makes cases, I think (and Tamron makes lenses). Maybe it's different where you are. Yep that's it !! Tascam, not Tamrac! Probably not enough coffee that day. -- Tascam make sound recorders etc, Tamrac make stuff like camera bags etc, and Tamron make lenses....

Sony Exmor RS sensor

interesting new sensor design. Seems the latest design to maximise lowlight shooting, and Sony have even developed an on-the-fly HDR movie mode, that i guess combines 2 different exposures for each frame fast enough (at 30fps etc) to generate higher Dynamic range (better highlights, better shadows) ...
