Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

But for some reason they didn't compare fixed to the active mode. Maybe because the digital zoom in active mode would result in a different field of view. I would think that would be because The Active mode would be much closer to the new lastest Balanced SteadyShot mode. There is a much bigger dif...

Re: Sony HXR-NX30 - experiences?

Looks like a great machine. It has the form factor of the original Sony A1 HDV camcorder, with the XLR module. I must say that Sony really have a state-of-the-art stabilisation system with these latest camcorders. My XR520 is pretty good, but there is a whole new level of stabilisation with this gyr...

Re: HXR-NX5e - Tech. Information

4) Smooth Slow Rec will reduce your resolution. Even though they have improved it in recent years, I still wouldn't use it because you are locked into it if you shoot this way. I would do the slo-mo in post. I would add my view too to *not* use Smooth Slow Record. It not only is down-rezzed but it ...

Re: Does Sony AX2000 make bad AVCHD files?

or the .MTS files (the AVCHD ones) can be rendered to MPEG first, or better, rendered to Cineform AVI files (all these rendering out video will produce much larger files BUT the pay-off is that they are far less compressed and the editing computer's CPU will have a much much easier time of it in the...

Re: New Sony HDR-CX760V HDR-CX740VE

but as the world is in the process of replacing incandescent lights (which do NOT suffer flicker) with low-power bulbs (which MAY), I don't know. That is a very good point - in that there IS a switchover going on from incandescents to flurorescent etc and incandescenets do not flicker. So whilst in...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

one more thing. SOME videocameras do have a 'pre-record' feature which actually continually buffers video to a RAM buffer and so when you press REC, it can actually write this cycling RAM buffer to the front of the clip. In other words, suppose you are pointing your camera at something and something...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review

Doesn't it seem strange that this tapeless camera doesn't pause instantly? I have a crew of about 12 videographers who would be using these cameras and am not entirely sure that this won't be a problem. Chris The slight pause will likely be a 'key-frame' related issue. HDV and AVCHD cameras record ...
