Re: HXR-MC50e new pro version of CX550

But then the XLR inputs for the HVR-A1 were an add-on (like a Beachtek), not really built-in as I understand. Actually i think the XLR module and inputs were completely standard on the A1. That was the principal difference (but not the only one) between it and the HC1. Same sensor though, which did...

Re: shooting aviation video

Hi Shammah98 Please - no need to post your question twice in two separate threads. this causes confusion and duplicate responses.I have provided some help on your other thread in the "Shooting Tips" forum here : http://www.friendsofhdvideo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=109&start=0...

Re: hd video from the airplane

Hi Ernest The reason the video looks 'wavy' will be two things : 1) optical image stabilisation USUALLY works really well with almost all situations. But... high-frequency vibration is one situation when EIS (electronic Image stabilisation), rather than OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) tends to wor...

Re: HVR V1E, lost frames in recording.

You're welcome Peter. Let us know how you get on with a different tape brand. I've only ever used Sony premiums (well, 90% of the time) and i've had very very few problems with them. I think Adam (acgold7) can report similar success with these tapes.

Re: "Glad You Are Back!!"

I would like to add my voice to those expressing appreciation for the replacement of the SonyHDVInfo board. It was an enormously useful resource as I purchased and learned to use my HDR-HC1. I found your new forum just as I began to consider a replacement for my HC1. Thanks for all that you have gi...

Re: HVR V1E, lost frames in recording.

As an example of the difference in these two Sony miniDV tapes, Premium and the HDV version, here's links to both tapes on a US site : SODVM60PR,SODVM63HD Remember these tapes record digitally, so no difference in the image itself. Its just a matter of, potentially, lower frequency of tape dropouts....

Re: HVR V1E, lost frames in recording.

Hi Peter, and welcome to the board. Sounds to me very much like tape dropout. This is a well-known phenomenon and results in the 0.5second glitch that you experienced. Why half second? Because HDV is a long-GOP (GroupOfPictures) codec and it has a keyframe every half-second approxinmately. So when t...

Re: Sony HDV Z1E

Lucky man having a Z1 ! it's a legendary machine. Its built tough, dependable, and is absolutely a classic machine, and one of the machines that started the HD revolution. (with the FX1). HD stuff - focus tends to be more critical and generally i would concentrate hard as Adam said on composition, k...

Re: Sony Z1 iris

Principally it adjusts the amount of light entering the camera by making the area of the hole (or iris) that the light enters either twice as large or twice as small, for each f-stop you change. f5.6 let's in half as much light as f4. f2.8 let's in twice as much light as f4. The iris (called apertur...

Re: Sony NEX-VG10 (APS-C sensor, interchangeable lens)

Yes it would have been nice to see native 23.97p, 29.97p, 60p.
but i think this is at least a tacit acknowledgement that there is a market for this type of thing.
