TM900 vs TM90

Post by Funinjune »

Hello,

I hope you can provide me some direction. I'm looking at a TM900 for $599 or a TM90 for $299. I'm using if for family use. I would like to carry only one camera with me so I was hopping one of these would also replace a digital camera. I like the size of the TM90. I no on paper, the TM900 shines over the TM90 but do you think for family use, the $300 is worth the difference?

Thank you for your help.

The HDC-TM900, and the HDC-TM700 that it replaced, have been highly regarded and providing great value for the money. A 3-CMOS camcorder (comparable to Sony's FX7) in a small body for $600, wow I wouldn't settle for anything less.

But I wouldn't take still pictures with a camcorder. These days, still cameras can take video, and very adequately so sometimes (with restrictions like focus / controls and audio) - Pana DMC-GH2 for instance - but the other way around (camcorders taking stills) well, I've never seen that produce anything good personally.

Hope this helps.

I totally vote for the TM900.

Its a super-bargain and it shoots really nice images and the kicker for me is it will shoot 1080 resolution at 60fps (frames-per-second). that is really unusual in a camcorder of that price, and it has been widely praised. I actually considered getting one myself a while back.
