I like the 3 sensors in such compact camcorder, and the relatively large lens and wide zoom as it seems.

However unfortunately, being able to record 60p isn't really going to help you, if it's not supported by editing software (this can change) and by the blu-ray format (that isn't going to change so easily). I would be surprised if YouTube / Vimeo would support 60p (I doubt that), which only leaves you to hand over video files to other people.

60p should look gorgeous on your computer display, but at this time so impractical to edit, view comfortably, and share with other people.

PS: and 60p is for USA / similar countries. If Panasonic makes it 50p in Europe, that will be the end of it.

I think that 60p is, perhaps, most often used to get nice slow motion by slowing it down to 24p etc.

Hi Doughie, long time no see.

Hi Stephan, nice to meet you.

Now, on topic:

If you have a quad Intel PC and something like Sony Vegas or Premiere CS5, you will be able to edit 60p and render to 60p file.

You will not be able to make a Blu ray because 60p is not a part of Blu ray spec (yes, it surprises me too), but you will be able to produce files, burn them to DVDs and even play them on some Panasonic Blu ray players.

Best,

Yours truly Maine Coon.

Thanks!

Here is an example from someone as of how to make AVC clip out of 1080p60 (or 1080p50) footage:

For the PAL pals change frame rate to 50 instead of 59.94.
