Which best handycam HD 1080i?

Post by FoxAdriano »

Hi,
I'm using Sony nx5u for my documentaries around the world. This camera is becaming too much big and heavy for me and I need a smaller and lighter camcorder but not to the disadvantage of video quality. My bubget to buy this new handycam is around 1000-1200 €.
I thank you for your precious news but I'd like to know the difference of video quality between what you will suggest me and Sony nx5u.
thanks

PS: Is a new handycam coming out?

I have the HDR-CX740VE, and am very satisfied with the video. Better than the FX7, so I'd expect it to be close, or on par with your NX5.

Except at night, though - The small lens "haloes" a lot (more than the FX7 that I know), like city lights look dreadful. So if you shoot at night, be aware it's risky to downgrade to a smaller lens.

And if you're serious about audio, you need to plan for recording audio separately with a distinct recorder.
