HDR-CX550 View Finder Operation

Post by adagio33 »

I'm considering buying the CX550VE. However I am interested in its view finder operation. Does the LCD screen need to be open for the camera to operate or can you operate the camera with the LCD screen closed and just use the view finder. My local Sony Centre tell me that the screen needs to be open, although they didn't have a model in stock to demonstrate.

It seems a little strange that they would go to the trouble of fitting a view finder and not allow the camera to operate with the screen closed.

If it's like the XR520v -- and they should be similar -- the cam turns on when you either a) open the LCD screen, or b) slide back the telescoping end of the eyepiece while the LCD is still closed.

Best to DL the manual and double check, I suppose.
