Hummm thru mic mini input

Post by Scott Deal »

Whichever type of mic I use, lav, shure dynamic or which kind of mini plug in (mono, stereo, pigtail from "balanced" XLR to stereo mini) I get a lot of hum or line noise.

How can I get the plugged in sound as clean as the built-in mic sound?

Which cam?

If possible, try turning off Auto Gain and see if that helps.

Sorry. Sony HDR-CX560. I posted it in another forum; forgot on this one.

I'd appreciate any help.

dont think a dynamic mic like a Shure will work. not sure.
but anyway, yeah try turning it onto manual gain (if that cam has that).
make sure all the connectors are solidly plugged in.

It could be one of the plug connectors you have has a bad solder-joint or something.

How long a cable run are you using?

I am guessing the that the minijack socket is a 'plug-in power' socket.
Might be a duff socket on the cam itself.
