How to open ACCHD.mts

I just got a Sony XR 160 put some video on a flash drive and took it to a friend but he couldn't open the files. He said there was no program to open them. Can someone explain what's happening with this plz. They open fine on my computer using Win media player.

MTS is an AVCHD Hi-definition Video file.

It should be playable on a number of differnt players.
- On my PC i just tried playing an MTS file and it plays fine in Windows Media Player, VLC Player, Divx Plus player.

BUT it is a heavily-compressed file and a PC needs to be prob made in last 2 or 3 years to be able to play it smoothly. Processor-speed is all important here.

I suggest your friend updates his players, so they can handle this AVCHD codec.
