Sure, as long as you don't color correct. If by any chance you do cc at some point, you wouldn't want to drift away from a reference point. Whether people have bad settings on their TV (or bought poor quality) is their own problem.
By the way, I realized that after I tuned down color saturation on my TV, colors look amazingly similar to my profiled monitor - by default, that is (no color tuning on my TV other than saturation and gamma curve).
