Re: camera as pass through for HD monitor
Yep it's all worth considering, although realistically, colour profiling on a TV to such a technical level is probably unnecessary. It's not like print where there is an exact expectation in the print industry for a printed product. There as many colour profiles for TVs as there are tv models x the ...

Re: camera as pass through for HD monitor
Well it was as simple as plug and play on a mac but a little tweaking with Final Cut Pro and monitor resolutions on the HDTV. I also had to do a little tweaking on the TVs default menu settings which were at max sharpness and resolution and did bad things to my footage. I hooked my HVR V1E up to the...

Re: camera as pass through for HD monitor
Just an update on this, don't know why I didn't think of it before, I connected a DVI to HDMI cable from my mac to my HDTV and am previewing FCP from my timeline to my HDTV.

Re: Odd timecode display
Funny you mention that, today I spent hooked up to my 1080 HD Tv swotting up on picture profiles and camera profiles and what an edumecation that was. I've mentioned in other posts about default sharpening in the camera and the saME PROBLEM IN THE TV. Seems all HD tvs are shipped with the sharpness ...

Re: Odd timecode display
if you're still following this Adam, here are the settings in my TC menu TC PRESET 00 00 00 00 TC RUN REC RUN TC MAKE PRESET With this I've just loaded a new tape and the TC begins where it left off on the previous tape. I've no idea why a camera would have that option, at a guess you could identify...

Re: Odd timecode display
You're a gent, thanks for doing that, I'll have a closer look at it tomorrow. AAH, but I've put TC on the tape when I recorded one minute of colour bars, HHMM, what to do then in that circumstance. BTW You just gave me a shiver, I worked in FHE (Further and higher education) for 11 years and for sev...

Re: Odd timecode display
Well I'll try that tomorrow when I'm in my studio but HDV automatically records new timecode anyway, doesn't it ? which is why we don't need to 'black' tapes anymore like I used to do in the early days of DV

Re: a BBC review of the HVRV1
I completely agree with you and further when I was watching my first footage in my 1080 HD tv I was a bit stressed out at the aliasing and artifacts on my HDV footage until I dug around in the settings and again it was sharpness. They ship these tvs with it turned up to maximum, apparently the consu...
