Transferring Video Directly to a Storage Device

Sony has a feature called Direct Copy, has anyone used it? Is this the cable that's needed, or is there some other trick to doing it? http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666073165#features I'll be away...

Re: HDR-TD10 in Really Dusty Conditions

Thanks, Steve. I didn't realize you were talking about a different remote, not the one supplied with the camera :) I'll try to research your proposed setup, and see what I can come up with. Thanks again!

Re: HDR-TD10 in Really Dusty Conditions

OK, I also tried playing with the remote control, hoping I can open the camera, turn the display upside down and lie it flat against the camera, stuff it into some other waterproof case (if I find one wide enough for it), and activate it with the remote once I need it. The problem is that there is n...

Re: HDR-TD10 in Really Dusty Conditions

Thanks, Steve. It's too bad Sony doesn't make a sports pack for this camera. Maybe they'll come up with one in a month or so :)

HDR-TD10 in Really Dusty Conditions

Does anyone know how well are this camera's seams (or any other Sony's consumer camera) sealed? Can I do anything to protect it? Are there any special lenses I can use? I was going to get one of those underwater cases, but I don't know if it would just make the video appear blurry, since I'm not act...

Re: Low Light Conditions - SR1 vs XR550?

Thanks guys, you've been very helpful. I'll probably wait till the holidays to see if I can get it on sale. Once I do, I'll come back and post my review :) PS. I also looked (just for fun) at the mentioned EX1R camera. Wow, that thing is a beauty. Unfortunately, it's not something I can currently af...

Re: Low Light Conditions - SR1 vs XR550?

Thanks guys!

Would you say that XR550 is the best consumer camera today for shooting in low-light conditions? Or is there something else I can look at?

Unfortunately, I can't afford high-end professional equipment. I'm looking to spend around (or a little over) $1,000.

Thanks again!

Low Light Conditions - SR1 vs XR550?

I'm a proud owner of the original Sony HDR camera (SR1), which has been absolutely fantastic for me over the past few years for shooting outdoors. However, lately, my needs have changed, and I have to video a lot of stuff indoors (sports activities). Unfortunately, SR1 just doesn't deliver, even wit...
