Re: LANC adaptor

It's a great question. I have not seen anything like this. I think they think everyone has the opposite situation. I myself have the older tripod and the 2.5mm to D-plug adapter to go into a newer cam. I think most people update their cams more often than they update their tripods, which is sort of ...

Re: Please help

DVCAM is not HD, so you can't put HDV on to it. If you render your project as SD DV, make sure your settings all match and you should be able to export it to tape using Vegas' settings. But we can't know what settings you have wrong until we know what your settings are. If you mean you have an HVR-V...

Re: HVR-HD1000E SONY CAMCORDER

Without knowing any real specifics, it sounds as if your PC, your OS and your editing software are all hopelessly outdated and insufficient to edit HDV, which is what you are likely shooting with your HD1000. Power Director is up to version 10 now, XP is at least three generations too old, and anyth...

Re: Playing HD miniDV tapes on other devices

Assuming that the only device that can do both (a) and (b) is a tape based camcorder, Not a good assumption. Sony makes a very nice little HDV deck, the HD700, that does both but is not a camcorder. will any HD miniDV camcorder be able to do the job? ? Sort of. Canon and Sony use the same HDV stand...

Re: Sony HVR-M15 with iMovie

We'll wait for the screenshots and then you won't be able to shut us up.

Having used the M15 with hundreds of hours of tape from dozens of different HDV cams, I can say it's highly unlikely it's the deck. Not impossible, just unlikely. It won't downrez unless you tell it to. It's digital, Jake.

Re: Sony HVR-M15 with iMovie

This feels familiar. Have we had this discussion before? Are you shooting with the FX7 but recording onto the M15? Yes, found it. Last month on the other forum I asked if you would be so kind as to post a screen grab of your settings on your NLE. Without seeing those we cannot hazard a guess as to w...

Re: HVR-Z5U & HVR-Z5N: Is There a Difference?

N just means generic NTSC, for North America. The model specific to Japan is the J. Yours was probably destined for Canada.

The only difference might be the menus and the warranty, but in this case there probably is none.

Re: Z5U MRC1 Audio

If it's happening when capturing from tape, then it's a dropout and it's why people are moving away from tape. Dropouts are far more serious an issue when using HDV tape than DV tape because you can lose up to half a second because of the way it is compressed. If all is working normally with the Z5,...

Re: Z5U MRC1 Audio

If you are not using the Sony utility it's doubtful they'll stitch together correctly. Pages 16-19 of your MRC manual. Don't blame the camera if you are not following their recommended procedure. Both the cam and the recorder are completely reliable if you follow the instructions. FCP X is widely re...

Re: Z5U MRC1 Audio

The 12 minute thing means you are not using the ru_util software to stitch the clips together in one seamless piece. You must use the software that came with your unit to import the clips and piece them together properly or you will get the dropped frames as FAT32 can't handle the long clips, and al...
