Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review
Right, consumer cams just store this as metadata and it can be toggled on and off at will. But if it is on and being output during analog playback, you could technically burn a DVD from this feed and have it permanently burned into the picture on the DVD. My understanding is this works with analog o...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review
Doughie, your points are all well-taken and make perfect sense, but the rules of logic do not apply when you are dealing with the US legal system. For legal and court proceedings, many jurisdictions require this date/time stamp, regardless of how easily it can be faked. Makes no sense, I know, bit i...

Re: Sony HXR-MC2000 Hands-On Review
It's a great question and to be honest with you I don't know. As I no longer have the review units, I'm unable to test this. The manual doesn't make it look like you can do this. "The date and time does not appear during recording, but they are automatically recorded on the recording media, and...

Re: Dropouts on Sony HVR-Z5U tape
Make sure you have the settings correct for the MRC, both in the cam and on the unit. For example, if you wish to shoot without tape at all, EXT REC CTRL on the cam must be set to EXT ONLY, and on the unit, SYNCHRO mode must be selected in CAMLINK SEL. It's a little tricky to get them talking togeth...

In the Effects panel, under Video Effects look for Adjust or Color Correction. Tools live in both places. Many people like the Three-Way Color Corrector.

Re: Dropouts on Sony HVR-Z5U tape
Any new tape cam is prone to dropouts for the first 20 hours or so, until the heads get "burnished" and settle down. A head cleaning tape can help, but you should only run it for a few seconds and not too frequently. Also, Panasonic tapes have been reported to be problematic. Doughie has r...

Re: Problems with audio sequence from AVCHD files
This is just a guess, but it is possible your files are being split at the 4GB point and then not being re-joined properly. If you are just copying your files from the cam as if it is a Hard Drive then you may have this problem. Try transferring from cam to PC with the Panasonic software, and then i...

Re: Sony HDR-SR8 & Adobe Premiere CS4
Unfortunately I never used CS4; I jumped straight from CS3 to CS5. I bought CS4 but never installed it once I heard reports about how horrible it was. So it's now two generations old. But all that aside, there should certainly be an AVCHD 1440 x 1080 60i (or 50i in your case) preset for you to use. ...

Re: Sony FX1 Very Low Gain
I think Doughie's diagnosis is likely correct. Do you see a shift in exposure when you move the ND switch? If not, it's jammed. If so, it's something else. Can you post photos? If you play back on a good monitor with DATA CODE [DATE/CAM] enabled, it should display all cam data, and if you can take a...
