Re: Which Editing package do you use?
Cineform still works with Vegas, according to the Cineform website. It's possible there was a small licensed version that came with past editions of Vegas (like it did with the old Premiere Pro 1.5.1) that is no longer included free.

Re: HVR Z7 - Date Record (remove)
You can't. Once it's burned into the picture it's there forever. It's not like just displaying the date on playback, where it takes the date from the embedded data. This is actually in your picture. You might be able to sort of blur it out in post but you can never truly remove it. In terms of why, ...

Re: Help with HVR-A1U XLR
If the low light thing isn't a big issue, I think you will be delighted with the V1. Really a stunning little cam, even better than your A1, I think.

Re: Help with HVR-A1U XLR
I could be wrong about this, but I don't think the A1 shoots to .mov at all. It's HDV, which is always m2t. FCP will have to transcode this footage to work with it, just as with any other Sony HDV cam. In any event there is no mention of the .mov format anywhere in the A1's manual. I don't think the...

Re: Sony HDR-FX7 capture quality problem
I've shot many, many, much faster pans and quick action with my FX7s and never had this problem. So I'm not sure it's the camera.
Stephan's advice about encoding seems spot on. We'll know more if you can answer the questions I posed in my earlier response.

Re: Sony HDR-FX7 capture quality problem
I can see what you're talking about. Can you look at the captured clips outside of Premiere, like in VLC or Media Player Classic or even WMP? What happens when you capture with HDVSplit? Finally, what are you PC specs?

Re: sony hdr fx1 won't upload in hi def
Does it do this with all tapes or only one? Sounds like you recorded some stuff in DV mode. What NLE? Project settings? Capture Settings? Camcorder settings? Try all three choices for VCR HDV/DV and see if anything changes. Could also be a bad FW cable, port or card. Your PC is woefully underpowered...

Re: Problem with playback with HDR-FX7
Your FX7 is new from the factory or used but new to you? This is actually a fairly common problem but there's no definitive answer as to what it could be. Possibly dirty heads or possibly heads out of alignment. A trip to the shop may be in order, and it's likely you won't get anything off the probl...

Re: Z5 AC-VQ1050 AC Adapter/Charger question
It's part # 179218621, but Sony is out of stock. You can search for Sony parts here: https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/PartsPlusResults.aspx?stype=parts# Partstore.com is usually a great source for these things, and they are listing it as in stock and available to ship, albeit at a higher price:...

Re: Odd timecode display
Excellent, that's great news. So now the question, just out of intellectual curiosity, is how did it get that way? Did you change the settings, or was it out of your possession, and could someone else have switched them? Your cam just shouldn't spontaneously do this if it wasn't doing it before...
